Game Day All Star Rules
Rules for the 2009 Senior Classic
Time: Game will consist of four 15 minute quarters with 3 timeouts per half for each team and a 15 minute halftime. College timing and hash marks will be used. In the event of a tie, the NCAA Division III College Tie Breaker will be used.
Offense
There will be no offensive restrictions.
Defense
Front Alignment
The defense will be restricted to 40 front with defensive ends in 5 techniques (outside eye of tackles or TE if one is in game) and one defensive tackle in a 3 technique (outside eye of guard) and the other in a 2 eye (inside eye of the guard). Center may not be covered. Defense will be allowed a 5 man rush by walking up strong side outside linebacker to cover TE prior to snap (no deception) or in ghost alignment outside of 5 technique if no TE is in the game. If outside line backer is on the line of scrimmage then he must rush QB, if he is off at snap then he must drop in coverage. No stemming – slanting or angling is permitted on the defensive line.
Secondary
Secondary is restricted to play cover 2 zone (2 high safeties) or cover 3 zone (one high safety) and must be aligned in above coverage prior to snap. Man and Man Free Coverage will be permitted in short yardage (3 yards or less) and goal line (10 yard line and in) only.
Goal Line (10 yard line and in)
Defensive Front will remain the same as above with the exceptions of DT’s may be aligned head up on guards, DE’s must be in 5 techinques and both outside linebackers may cover down on TE’s or align on the line of scrimmage. Linebackers must begin play at 2 yards deep prior to snap. No secondary restrictions in coverage.
Special Teams
Extra Points – Field Goals
Follow NCAA Guidelines (No Restrictions)
Punt – Punt Block
Teams must use a spread punt formation with only one gunner on each side of the ball. Punt rush/ block team may only rush 6 and they must all be on Line of Scrimmage prior to snap (No deception). Punt Fake may be used (unrestricted) but must be from above spread punt formation.
Kick – Off and Kick Return
Ball will be kicked off from the middle of the field and there must be a minimum of 4 players on each side of the ball prior to kick – off. Return is unrestricted.
